Resources on Homelessness:
The National Center on Family Homelessness is the nation's definitive
authority on family homelessness. Imagine America without homeless families. They
can. Their mission is to discover what works, educate and inspire, and take action
to end family homelessness in America.
The National Association for the Education of Homeless Children
and Youth (NAEHCY), a national grassroots membership association,
serves as the voice and the social conscience for the education of children and
youth in homeless situations.
The National Coalition for the Homeless, founded in 1984, is a national
network of people who are currently experiencing or who have experienced homelessness,
activists and advocates, community-based and faith-based service providers, and
others committed to a single mission. That mission, our common bond, is to end homelessness.
Resources for Supporting Families:
America's Promise:
America's Promise believes that every child deserves a chance to succeed and that
is America's Promise. It takes all of us working together to make that possible.
Five Promises: Caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, effective education
and opportunities to help others. In the decade that follows, we plan to reach even
more. We cannot settle for less.
Kids
Care Clubs, a program
of the Points of Light Foundation, develops compassion and the spirit of service
and philanthropy in elementary and middle school aged youth. To that end, we provide
young people with hands-on volunteer opportunities to help others in their local
and global communities.
The Family Cares program, an initiative of the Points of Light Foundation,
helps to promote compassion through hands-on family projects that help others in
need. No matter how you define "family," volunteering together benefits
your family, community, and the nation at large.
The Points of Light Foundation and Volunteer Center National Network
engages and mobilizes millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social
problems in thousands of communities. Through a variety of programs and services,
the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life - businesses, nonprofits,
faith-based organizations, low-income communities, families, youth, and older adult
to volunteer.
The KaBOOM! The KaBOOM! mission is to create great playspaces through the participation
and leadership of communities.
