UK Nursery Creates Special Book for 4 Peaks Challenge
Lilli-Lamba and the Mountain Monster was created by children for children
This Olympic year of 2012 is the year that Bright Horizons teams set themselves a mountainous challenge, to conquer the 4 highest mountains in England, Irela
nd, Scotland, and Wales in order to raise money for the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children in Europe. And they did indeed climb four mountains – despite the rain, wind, and mud!
Through our Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, we work to help children and families in our local communities who are undergoing crisis, living in temporary accommodation or fleeing from domestic violence for example.
But our challenge was not just for the climbers — we asked our nursery children to become involved, too. Staff worked with children to create stories about climbing mountains and the winning nursery was Towerfield Tots in Plymouth with their story of Lilli Lamba and the Mountain Monster. Their story became a printed book which was sent to every Bright Horizons nursery to promote the 4 Peaks Challenge and the Foundation. The book is now available for others to enjoy in e-format.
With the help of our Foundation supporters we really are able to make a real difference in the lives of children and families. Here is a story from just one of the 12 Bright Spaces we have opened over the last 5 years.
